PROJECT KNOWLEDGE- Day 35, 36, & 37

Days 35, 36, & 37: West Bloomfield, singing at Fleischman Retirement Home, & our Detroit Benefit!

We woke up Monday morning refreshed from a great night’s sleep in the beautiful Kaye home. We spent the morning catching up on some work and then headed to Randi’s Mom’s office to meet with her boss and the owner of Yessian Music, Dan Yessian. Yessian is a global collective of producers, composers, music supervisors, research creative’s and recording artists with offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit. We had an incredible talk with Dan about how he started his business and how it’s evolved into what it is today. He was really interesting to talk to as the music industry is facing a lot of the same challenges that the theatre currently faces. He had some really inspiring stories and great advice for us. We topped the night off with a wonderful meal cooked by Chef Brad!! By the way... Junior has fallen in love with the Kaye's!

Most of Tuesday was spent working at the house (except a small outing to replace Amy’s busted ipod). We went for dinner in Birmingham where we sat and talked with Sheldon, Lyne and her daughter Kasey. Lyne is a personal trainer as well as working at Ecostore with Randi’s Dad. . After a delicious dinner we all returned to the house for another performance of “Living Room a New Dream.” After some song and dance we sat and had a really great talk with Sheldon. Although Sheldon’s business is completely unrelated to theatre, his business model and his principles as the CEO are things that we’ll strive for as we form our company. It was another inspiring evening for all of us.

The next day, we had the amazing opportunity of performing at the Fleischman Retirement Home that afternoon. There were about 50 residents that we performed for (and with!) including Randi’s incredible grandma Margie. We had everyone singing along to all the great standards and we even had a few people up on the dance floor!

We left Fleischman feeling amazing and ready for our Detroit benefit at the Farmington Civic Theatre in Farmington, MI. The evening couldn’t have been more perfect. Helen and Charlie worked so hard organizing the event, getting all of our food and drinks set up, and filling the theatre with all of their wonderful friends. It was a truly successful evening in every sense. We can’t thank everyone enough for their incredible support and most importantly Helen and Charlie for EVERYTHING that they did for us!! Thank you West Bloomfield!!
