PROJECT KNOWLEDGE- Day 10

Project Knowledge, RVs, Theatre, Theatre DiscussionsDestination: New Orleans, LA
We got an early start this morning for our 8-hour trek to New Orleans. Nothing too exciting happened along the way, besides the realization that one can buy gator heads at truck stops in Louisiana. Sorry to disappoint, but we did not actually purchase any...

We arrived at the campsite about an hour before sunset. There we met Roberta, who very kindly directed us into our spots and later went on to tell us a story about how she fell off her bike once in order to give someone a stern warning about the camp speed limit. Now there is one hard-working woman!

Shortly thereafter we took a trip into town to see the sights and get some dinner. Along the way, we spoke to some locals about the theatre scene in New Orleans and their thoughts towards it. So far, most people here think we're asking about the movie scene. The only person who seemed to have an understanding and a love of theatre was our Egyptian taxi driver who explained that theatre where he is from is relevant, topical, and full of heart. However, he has yet to attend the theatre in New Orleans. It's unfortunate that there is such a disconnect.

We walked Bourbon St., Decatur, and the french quarters, ending up at a charming outdoor cafe called Cafe Du Monde. But knowing we had another 8-hour drive in the morning, we called it an early night to gear up for our visit to Atlanta and Alliance Theatre!
